If you haven’t started video marketing yet, now is the time. With the effectiveness of traditional marketing dwindling and the popularity of video skyrocketing, video marketing has become a must-have for every business.
Video marketing is the use of video to raise awareness, create engagement, and drive sales. It’s a part of digital marketing, albeit a massive one, and overlaps with content marketing.
Why Does Your Business Need To Market With Video?
- Hubspot found that 78% of people watch online videos every week, while 54% watch videos every day.
- Google’s research shows that 6 out of 10 people would rather watch online videos than television.
- YouTube states that its users view more than 1 billion hours of video each day on the platform.
What you might not know is that video also helps you rank better on Google. Video not only helps your site rank better, but it also gives you more exposure in results due to the size and contrasting nature of video previews.
Video marketing goals and targets:
- Awareness
- Consideration
- Conversion

Building A Video Calendar
A good video calendar allows us to create content in a timely fashion. It will contain an overview of the content, define goals for each video, know the target audience, and figure out what type of video to make. Organic content refers to videos you share (on Twitter and other social networks). Paid content are the video ads we run on social media (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube). Paid ads are most commonly conversion-based to boost sales.
Choose the right video maker.
The video makers I use are ones that are fast, easy to use and pre-filled with content. I've saved you some time by testing them all to advise you on what's the best plan for your business.
Choose a scheduler
No more manual posting and missed opportunities! I've chosen a schedule based on where I work. The more hyper-focused a tool is, the better it is in my opinion!
Some of the tools I like for various reasons are:
- Sked
- Buffer
- Meet Edgar
- Sprout Social

Types of Marketing Videos
(Some of these are important enough for a separate blog post!)
Type 1 are explainer videos. Great for brands to explain anything from how a product works, how to use your service, a delicate topic or how to do something. The goal of explainer videos is conversion. We'll embed them in the landing page of your website.
Type 2 is Video ads and promos. At the awareness stage, a video ad is highly targeted and talks directly about a brand, business, product or service. Sub-types include sales, coupons, discounts, sign-ups and surveys.
Type 3 are sales and discounts. Of course you'll want to take advantage of major shopping dates like Christmas, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Father's Day and so on. Any date with heightened interest to buy always increases your chance of conversion. Simple and straightforward videos are best.
Type 4 are social proof and testimonials. These help leverage your existing customer base to provide trusting information. Fill videos like this with stats (number of customers, awards, other successes) Make sure you include selfie views from customers or animate their written testimonials.
Other types of videos we can make are infographics, editorials, polls and questions, Facebook covers, YouTube intros, Sales videos, personnel backgrounds, launches and ribbon cutting, etc.
